Great post. Positive thinking, positive people - is something like almost a myth these days. I remember my grandparents, they where so much more positive then us today. Even looking in the past, taking away the wars, people where a lot more positive, easy going and better to talk with. Today everyone is trying their "muscles" mental or even physical, financial. Thank you for this guide.

This is brilliant advice -- my motto is it's not what life throws at you that counts, but how you respond to it -- easier said than done though. I also think it's so important to learn to forgive. Forgiveness, doesn't mean you condone awful behaviour or you're somehow giving up -- it takes more strength to forgive than to hold grudges. Plus grudges take up energy -- why give the other person the satisfaction?

Thank you for this valuable analogy:

"Imagine a 36 inch yardstick, with each inch representing about a little over 2 years, which approximates an average life expectancy. Where do you fall? How many inches do you have left in your life? Next time you find yourself making “mountains out of molehills” you might be more successful at recalibrating your perspective."

.... it really does create a "wow" thought ....

Sometimes I make up stories about things that bother me. Like let's say a guy cuts me off on the road I make up the story that he had a hard day at work where he got yelled at by his boss for something his coworker did and all he wants to do is hurry home to his cat and eat the apple pie in his fridge. It makes me feel better.

I would like to STOP wondering why all of the time. I want to know why people do the things they do and often times, I know I will never get the answer to that question.
